If you have ever tried to professionally identify a color, then you likely recognize the name Pantone. Known worldwide as the standard language for color communication, Pantone annually releases their Color of the Year to represent a color snapshot as an expression of the moods and attitudes that they are observing in our global culture.
Here’s what Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, says about their choice for 2018:
We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to Pantone 18-3838, Ultra-Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level. From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.
You’ll probably start to see Ultra Violet show up in everything from nail polish to bridesmaid’s dresses. In the home, we think this hue lends well to spaces in need of a little drama. Stay tuned for ideas on how to incorporate this color into your home. But for now, what do you think? Will you be adding shades of violet to your decor this year?
