My father collected lighthouses. It would have been easy to assume that he did this solely because he was a sailor. But I’ve always thought there was another reason. I think he collected lighthouses because of what he inherently knew as a father. He knew that his job was not to hold back or to do it for us, but rather to guide.
He was there to guide me on our first bike ride and he was there to guide me down the aisle of my wedding. Always showing the way, but never hindering or forcing the steps that I took. He knew what it meant to be a father and I think this is why he loved collecting lighthouses.
