Our Favorite Lunch Box Ideas and a Free Weekly Menu Planner Printable

Planning balanced and healthy family meals for each week can seem like one of the most daunting tasks for parent. Cereal for every breakfast and peanut butter and jelly for every lunch can quickly become the routine. And then what do for dinner? Or snacks?

We asked one of our readers to share some of her tricks for staying organized during the back to school season and her tip was this:

Menu plan, menu plan, menu plan. Spend just a few minutes each week to plan out breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for your family and stick to the plan. Not only does this ensure that your grocery bill does not skyrocket, but it also helps you see your family’s nutrition intake as a whole for each week. If you get in the habit of hanging your weekly menu plan in the kitchen, it cuts down on the ‘what’s for dinner!?!?!’ question every night. And that’s a win for everyone!

With that wise advice, we’re offering a simple downloadable menu planner for all of our readers. There’s a space to write in plans for each meal and also a space to include any special information for that day like “Dad is coming home late”, or “baseball game at 6:00.” Click on the picture below to download and print yours today. And then scroll down to see some of our favorite resources for healthy and creative lunchbox ideas for the whole family.
